Learning Resource Center Mission Statement

The Indian Bible College Learning Resource Center is committed to teaching and promoting information literacy while providing quality library resources and services that support IBC’s curriculum and institutional core values to meet the academic and research needs of the college community.

Learning Resource Center Objectives

  • To develop collections of materials that support, enrich and satisfy the curricular, research and spiritual needs of Indian Bible College.

  • To maintain a balanced collection that will be responsive to the demands of curriculum and actual usage.

  • To encourage use of the library and its facilities by the students and faculty of Indian Bible College.

  • To investigate the changing educational needs of the college community and to provide access to information, programs and services to meet these needs.

  • To provide information literacy teaching through instruction, tutoring, or reference and research services by a variety of means.

History

Indian Bible College (otherwise known as Southwestern School of Missions) was founded in 1958, by Dr. Gordon H. Fraser. The library was named Gordon Fraser Library in dedication to the founder. The library collection consists primarily of donations made since inception by generous benefactors. The most noteworthy was Woodrow Kroll’s personal library consisting of 4,000+ volumes. A migration of the catalog from print to computer began in 2010 and was completed in 2011.

On April 27, 2018, the Lord provided enough funds to pay cash for what was previously known as the Salvation Army Thrift Store. This facility provided the space for the Student Center, Student Life offices, and the Learning Resource Center. Volunteer work groups and student workers completely remodeled the interior and exterior as funds were available.

The Learning Resource Center was dedicated on January 28, 2021.
